Brigadier A P Singh did his schooling at St Columbas School, New Delhi and joined the National Defence Academy, Kharakvasala. He was commissioned into the Corps of Engineers of the Indian Army. During his army service he has been posted across locations throughout the country, having completed multiple tenures in Jammu & Kashmir and the Nort East, and spread as distant as to the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Vishakhapatnam, and Sikkim. His last assignment in the army was as Head of Department, Faculty of Electrical & Mechanical Engineering at the College of Military Engineering, Pune, from where he took voluntary retirement in 2007. He then worked in the corporate and social sectors where his responsibilities included managing three CBSE schools and a large temple complex. He also did a tenure as the Registrar of Indus University, Ahmedabad.
